It Began With A Dream! It all started when Merrell and I were on the lake canoeing.  She said this property is so beautiful that it should be shared with others.  Her suggestion was to build a place for church and family retreats.  That started the dream of creating a place where folks could get away from the rush of city life to a quiet and peaceful spot in the country.  Our goal was to have an atmosphere for our welcomed guests to completely relax and enjoy God’s creation.  Since then, Shady Lakes Ranch has grown into a retreat that has hosted hundreds of groups throughout the years.  It truly has become a family operated business with our daughter Lisa doing the cooking and our son Gary running the physical operation.  You might even see several grandkids running around helping out while you visit with us.  We would now like to invite you to bring your family, friends, loved ones or colleagues down for a visit to Shady Lakes Ranch, so that you can truly experience the peace and beauty with which God has so graciously blessed this family.
